Open the Gait Foundation was founded in 2026.
A prosthetic restores more than mobility. It restores dignity. — The conviction Open the Gait was built on
When co-founder Sam Lababidy underwent amputations, he recognized that a prosthetic is not just a medical device but a means of restoring dignity and independence. Sam received the high-quality care that made that restoration possible. He knew, however, that millions of amputees around the world would never be afforded the same opportunity.
Having participated in medical missions and witnessed profound healthcare disparities in underserved regions firsthand, co-founders Leith Fattouh and Jad Dola recognized the devastating gap between those who receive prosthetic care and those who are left without it simply due to circumstance.
Together, Sam, Leith, and Jad founded the Open the Gait Foundation to bridge that gap — raising funds and directing them to trusted, experienced organizations operating on the ground in conflict zones and underserved communities worldwide.
We believe that where you are born should not decide whether you walk again. By focusing on one need, working through proven partners, and reporting transparently on every dollar, we turn generosity into steps taken — for people who were told they'd never take another.
